A brief history of Tong Jum Chew Pte Ltd
Tong Jum Chew Pte Ltd was established in 1965 as Tong Jum Chew Medical Hall, located at the junction of Purvis Street and Beach Road in Singapore. It was founded by Tong Jum Chew, a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner dedicated to improving community health through natural and effective remedies. This marked the beginning of a legacy grounded in trust, tradition, and care.
In the 1980s, the medical hall relocated to Blanco Court (now the site of Raffles Hospital near Bugis MRT). This move marked a significant transition from a single retail outlet to a TCM importer and distributor, allowing the company to expand its reach and serve a broader market across Singapore.
In 1993, the business was formally incorporated as Tong Jum Chew Pte Ltd. In the same year, the company launched its proprietary brand Nature's Green, representing a new era of standardized, branded TCM products that blend traditional wisdom with modern science.
To ensure product quality and supply stability, the company established its first manufacturing facility in Singapore in 2004. This enabled complete control over the production process from formulation to packaging --enhancing both consistency and efficiency.
In 2006, the facility achieved Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification, recognizing its compliance with internationally accepted standards for safety, quality, and production processes. This milestone reinforced the company's reputation as a reliable TCM manufacturer.
In response to growing market demand, the company moved to a larger facility in Kaki Bukit in 2008. The upgraded production site significantly increased capacity and allowed for more streamlined operations to support both local and international growth.
Since 2009, Tong Jum Chew Pte Ltd has opened a network of 6 retail outlets and TCM clinics across Singapore. These outlets offer the full range of Nature's Green products along with professional consultation and treatment by licensed TCM practitioners-delivering holistic, personalized care grounded in time-tested traditions and supported by modern practices.
